SONOGRAPHIC Clinical Assessment

HANDS-ON WORKSHOP SONOGRAPHIC CLINICAL ASSESSMENT OF NEWBORN

NEWBORN POINT OF CARE ULTRASONOGRAPHY

The Point of Care Ultrasound Workshop December 11th and 12th

Summary of the NEOPOCUS workshop: This point of care ultrasound workshop would start with physics and principles of ultrasonography and would gradually progress into understanding the machine, knowing the common and difficult views for cranial ultrasonography and would delve with cranial Doppler in addition. We would discuss the extended usage of bedside ultrasonography by discussing lung ultrasound, how to identify common abnormalities in the lung such as consolidation, hyaline membrane disease and effusion using the ultrasonography technique. We would also discuss briefly how to identify the position of endotracheal tube and central lines using bedside ultrasonography as a tool. The overall focus would be on basics of bedside ultrasonography with simple, bedside maneuvers to understand the nuances of lung and cranial ultrasound and other common utilities of ultrasonography useful for a neonatal intensivist. This workshop does not intend to make you as experts in USG overnight. Instead, this intends to sensitize you to take up this skill and train yourself further as an addition to your clinical skill.
